Vol-Au-Vent w/ Chicken Suprême Sauce – Bruno Albouze – THE REAL DEAL
By Louise Atkinson for the Daily Mail. Nibbles have moved up a notch. This is the year of the canape — and not just the traditional sort. The new breed is fabulously bonkers, impossibly exotic and cropping up everywhere. Experts recommend allowing for five canapes per person, but given the wider choice now available, you may need considerably more. So which ones are worthy of your Christmas party platter?
Until the beginning of January, you have my permission to pull out the stops and enjoy a fortnight of festive nibbling. Serve with breadsticks. Cut down the middle giving two long strips. In a bowl, mix together the sausage meat, mustard, yeast extract and breadcrumbs. Season and divide mix into two. Roll each piece into a long sausage shape, the same length as the pastry. Place one sausage on each strip of pastry and brush pastry edges with egg.
Christmas came early last week with Waitrose and a bunch of other great people! Dinner started with a glass of bubbly and a wonderful range of canapes, my favourite ones were Christmas Tree Vol-au-Vents — crispy puff pastry filled with roasted mushrooms and Madeira in a creamy sauce, YUM! These little Christmas Tree shaped bites are highly addictive, plus they will look so cute served on a wooden board as a starter for your Christmas dinner. Before we sat down we got to make some festive Gingerbread Martinis to keep us warm :D Here is a quick recipe for all of you if you wish to give it a go during this festive season:. Combine the Irish cream liqueur, vodka, coffee liqueur, Gingerbread Syrup and ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and shake well.
It hasn't been nearly as good as The World Cup was on and I just got shitfaced every single day and hung out at my mate's houses smoking myself to sleep. Let's face it, it's been a roundly depressing year. Not for one man, though. For Mr Christmas, the year has gone like every year before since Namely, he has celebrated Christmas every day of it. Last year we sent him on a triple blind date with Gavin Haynes, one of our premium writers, and a goth.
