Smooth Seas Don't Make Good Sailors
Rough seas are gathering; the storm clouds are forming; the writing is on the wall. Sometimes our personal reality blinds us, and we neglect to see the reality of mass consciousness, the ambiguous reality of government and religion. In an attempt to create a free and open society we become the enemy of autocracy, corporatism, dictatorship, kleptocracy, plutocracy, theocracy, and tyranny governments. This message is not about Trump, Clinton, Obama, or any specific government or religious leader. It has been my experience in working with thousands of people, including politicians and religious leaders for the last 36 years to know when to take cover, not out of fear, but out of wisdom.
The proverb means that the difficulties we face in our lives help making us strong and able. Narrate an event form your life which was very difficult to go through but you have learnt something significant and profound from it. Explain in what ways you are different how as a result of that event. Life has many up and downs. It is not easy to live an easy life, at least you will face a difficult situation once in your life time. This is the beauty of life as it is a good teacher which teaches you practically by just involving you in a difficult situation. One of the events everyone has to face in their lives is their school life.
Tough topics during a turbulent time when we are experiencing some rough seas. There seems to be so much angst, anger, confusion and bashing going on in our political scene and elsewhere. I was working with a coaching client this morning and she was saying to me how challenged she felt to detach herself from all of it — she was feeling pulled into the negativity and unable to shake it.
good night and good luck quote
Smooth seas don't make for skillful sailors
My mother is 83 years old and incapacitated by Parkinson's disease. Unable to walk, she is marooned in her electric recliner chair. She wears an emergency alert necklace in the event of a fall or emergency. Assisted living professionals help with her bathroom and showering needs. My mother has a lot of reasons to complain.
This quote is fitting, yet simple but very profound in our daily lives. It is easy to become discouraged and beat yourself up over the blunders we have made in life. It is easy to allow small things to drag you down. Each of us grow through the experiences of trials and misfortunes, whether you are a politician, an entrepreneur, a leader or a student. We go through good times and we go through bad times, yet it balances as we grow. We grow in times of trouble, we grow through experiences, we grow through relationships and most importantly we grow in maturity.
